Il mio natale in fase "minimal"

Ebbene si, alla fine Natale sta arrivando anche qui..

nonostante le temperature da inizio autunno, nonostante la voglia di festa sia sempre meno ogni anno che passa..

nonostante tutto, all'albero non rinuncio.

Ho deciso di mostrarvi le foto, anche se molte di voi le avranno già viste su Instagram e Facebook.

E sopratutto, anche se sono praticamente la fotocopia di quelle dello scorso anno.

Non ho aggiunto nulla!!

L'albero mi piace ancora così e di decorazioni handmade ne ho fin troppe.

Ogni anno tiro fuori la metà dei decori dell'anno precedente.

Non c'è niente di troppo, a parte l'albero in sala e un paio di pupazzi qua e là.

Sono sempre più orientata a una sorta di minimalismo ( una sorta solo..perchè minimalista non lo sono per niente, però comincio a odiare il troppo pieno) e Natale non fa eccezione.

Christmas is finally on its way here, too.

Despite the autumn temperatures, despite my mood and the fact I like festivities less and less, year after year.

I still love the tree and can't avoid having it made.

These pics could be the ones from last year, since nothing has changed from then.

I still love these decorations and I'm not in a creative phase, so I made nothing.

Every year I pick only half of the decorations I put the year before and this minimalistic tendency is going on and on.

Maybe I'm growing up, who knows :-)

Il bianco e il rosso non mi abbandonano mai..danno luce, calore, atmosfera..senza bisogno di scintillii che non amo.

I always adore red and white: I love its light and atmosphere and warmness..without the sparkling I don't like.

Tre bavaglini che sanno di Natale

Quando Alessandra mi ha chiesto di realizzare dei bavaglini natalizi per il suo piccolino, l'idea mi è piaciuta subito. Prima di tutto perchè ama i colori e le fantasie che amo io, secondo perchè questo mondo baby per me è ancora un mondo tutto da esplorare.

Mi ha dato pochissime direttive, per il resto mi ha lasciato carta bianca; per esempio sulla scelta dei soggetti.

Ed ecco cosa è nato.

Posso dire che mi piacciono tanto?

When Alessandra asked me to make three Chrismas bibs for her baby, I was so glad.  Not only because she has the same tastes as me, but also because I'm fascinated with this baby world, which is new to me.

She gave me a lot of freedom and so I decided what kind of appliquè to choose.

Christmas is in the air..maybe..

Christmas is in the air..almeno così pare..io dal canto mio non sono ancora stata conquistata dal Natale. E' una cosa che, lo ammetto, mi viene sempre più difficile ogni anno.

Per tutta una serie di motivi.

Continuo a trovare l'atmosfera e le decorazioni irresistibili, ma non ho una gran voglia di rivoluzionare casa in vista di questo.

Poi queste temperature appena autunnali non mi pongono nella condizione di immaginare..sarà per esorcizzare questa apatia da feste, ma qualche giorno fa ho voluto fare un quadretto.

I quadretti mi piacciono sempre e trovo abbelliscano un angolo di casa con pochissima spesa e poco tempo.

Ho visto su Pinterest un delizioso orsetto appeso a una nuvola e me ne sono innamorata.

Ho pensato che anche una rennina sarebbe stata bene in quella speciale mongolfiera.

E anche che il tutto sarebbe stato bene dentro una cornice Virserum di Ikea, la mia preferita di sempre ( e so che è così per molte di voi).

Chistmas is in the air..so it seems..I have no feeling of it, yet. This is due to many factors: warm temperature, too.

I always love the atmosphere and decoration, but I don't want to start early to decorate home.

Maybe for this reason, I made this picture a few days ago.

Maybe hoping Xmas is in the air for me, too.

I saw a cute tiny bear hanging from a cloud on Pinterest and fell in love with it.

I decided that a reindeer could fly that way, too.

And I made it..using an Ikea Virserum frame.

Così è nata lei, che vola leggera, appesa a una nuvola e sembra chiedersi se il Natale è davvero vicino come sembra. Babbo Natale l'ha mandata in avanscoperta sulla terra e lei vola..e vola.. sentendo che si, il Natale è nell'aria..

So she was born..she is flying in the sky, hanging to a soft cloud..wondering if Xmas is really near.

Santa Claus sent her to the earth and she's flying and flying.

Free tutorial: winter wreath

Oggi vi riporto per un attimo ai toni neutri che prediligevo prima della mia svolta verso il colore.

Ho fatto questo tutorial tempo fa, per una rivista mai pubblicata.

Penso fosse un peccato lasciarlo nel dimenticatoio.. e quindi eccolo qui per voi!

Si tratta di una ghirlanda morbida e calda, facilissima e velocissima da fare. 

Fa pensare all'inverno..ma anche al Natale, con qualche aggiunta.

Immaginatevi qualche perlina o passamaneria sugli alberelli ed eccoli decorati per Natale.

I made this tutorial a few years ago, for a magazine that had never been published.

I think it would be a shame not to show it.

Here it is, for you.

A simple, simple winter wreath, that can become good for Christmas, too.

You can imagine to put some beads or trimmings on the trees, to decorate them.

Quindi, se volete, cominciamo!

OCCORRENTE

ghirlanda di cartone o di polistirolo ( la mia è una vecchia di Ikea che ho riciclato)

lana molto grossa

velluto panna

pile bianco

pistola colla a caldo

ovatta sintetica in fiocchi

passamanerie

So, let's begin!

SUPPLIES

a cardboard or foam wreath ( mine is an old one from Ikea)

thick wool yarn

white velvet

white pilecloth

hot glue gun

stuffing

trimmings

1.Disegnate a mano libera un alberello stilizzato. Se non vi sentite sicure, potete scaricarne una a scelta dalla rete. Riportate sul rovescio del velluto e del pile, piegati in doppio, la sagoma dell'alberello per tre volte. 

2.Cucite lungo tutti i contorni, senza lasciare aperture. Tagliate via l'eccesso di stoffa, lasciando circa 0,5 cm tutto intorno. Con le forbici fate piccoli taglietti perpendicolari alle cuciture nei punti critici come gli angoli. Questo farà cedere meglio la stoffa sul dritto. 

3.Fate un taglietto nella zona inferiore di ciascun albero prendendo un solo strato di stoffa. 

4.Rigirate gli alberi sul dritto attraverso questo taglietto, tirate bene le punte in fuori e imbottiteli con l'aiuto di un bastoncino. 

1.Draw a tiny tree on some paper. If you prefer you can download one from the net.

Use the pattern template to draw it on the velvet and pilecloth wrong sides, for three times. 

2.Sew along the outlines, leaving no opening. Trim away the fabric excess, leaving a 0,5 cm seam allowance. Make tiny cuts perpendicular to the stitches in the corners. This will help fabric yielding on the right side. 

3.Cut an opening at the bottom of each tree, taking one layer of fabric only. 

4.Turn the trees inside out through the opening, use a stick to put every corner out and stuff them.

5.Chiudete i taglietti sul retro. 

6.Avvolgete la ghirlanda di cartone con la lana. 

7.Avvolgete anche della passamaneria a piacere. 

8.Incollatevi gli alberelli. 

5.Handstitch the cuts in the back. 

6.Wrap the wreath with the wool yarn. 

7.Wrap some trimming. 

8.Glue the trees at the wreath bottom. 

Tagliate un pezzo di circa 50 cm di lana e passatelo sul retro della ghirlanda. Annodatelo.

Cut a 50 cm piece from the wool yarn and pass it behind the wreath. Tie a knot.

La ghirlanda è pronta!

Your wreath is ready!

Jingle: un elfo natalizio dispettoso

Oggi vi racconto una storia:

dovete sapere che in giro ci sono degli elfi buffi e dispettosi, che scorrazzano nelle case e famiglie nel periodo natalizio.

Sono nati in America ma stanno arrivando anche qui.

Preparatevi!

Sono elfi nati per controllare i bambini, se fanno i bravi oppure no, e riferirlo a Babbo Natale. Di giorno devono nascondersi per non farsi vedere, ma finisce che vengono immortalati in posizioni assurde e in attimi rubati.

Questo in particolare si chiama Jingle. Un bel nome che ha scelto quella che presto sarà la sua proprietaria, Barbara.

Questa dolce ragazza mi ha contattato in estate per chiedermi se potessi realizzare una sorta di  "Elf on the Shelf" per la sua famiglia.

Confesso che non sapevo cosa fosse, ma lei mi ha spiegato questa tradizione, derivata da una fiaba del 2004, per filo e per segno, allegando anche tante foto.

You must know there are some funny and naughty elves who arrive into houses and families before Christmas.

They have to check if children are naughty or nice and tell it to Santa Claus.

They come from the US but are arriving here, too.

They are always getting into troubles, while hiding, and a lot of pics can show their tricks.

Barbara, a nice and sweet mum/blogger, asked me to make a fabric elf for her daughter's Christmas and so here he is!

His name is Jingle ( she chose it) and is arriving to his new home

Ho creato un elfo in stoffa, un suo elfo personale, ma che incarnasse esattamente quella usanza.

Rosso, snodabile, con velcro su mani e piedi..per poter assumere le pose più disparate.

E già vedete quanti danni ha fatto qui da me!!

She explained to me what this tradition was, coming from a 2004 tale,  and I really loved it.

Red, articulated and with velcro on hands and feet, so that he can assume many positions.

Ma si può?? scommetto che i vostri bambini si divertiranno un sacco a vedere le foto delle sue marachelle..

perciò, se volete realizzare il vostro elfo, ispirato a quella usanza ma disegnato da me, ho preparato il cartamodello!

anzi, ormai Babbo Natale è già arrivato!

E io ne approfitto per fare tanti auguri a tutte voi..e che il 2014 sia decisamente migliore di questo anno.

Il prossimo sarà per noi un anno di svolta importantissimo e auguro lo stesso a chi di voi ha bisogno di dare una svolta e una scossa alla propria vita.

Il nostro Natale

Nonostante le temperature miti ( per fortuna..), nonostante la mia influenza, nonostante mille altre cose, anche quest'anno l'atmosfera natalizia non può mancare a casa nostra.

Anche se ogni anno che passa sembrano esserci sempre meno motivi per perdere tempo ad addobbare tutto, questa passione di retaggio infantile resta sempre fortissima per me.

E quindi, come lo scorso anno e quello prima, ecco il nostro alberone e qualche tocco qua e là.. anche se per la verità ogni anno gli addobbi si riducono.

Sopporto sempre meno gli ambienti sovraccarichi di cose.

Rispetto a qualche anno fa, quando entrando in casa sembrava di entrare in uno shop natalizio temporaneo, ora le decorazioni sono decisamente di meno.

Despite the warm climate, my flu and many other things, Christmas has reached our home, as usual.

Even if it seems not so necessary to create this atmosphere when you grow up, Christmas is always full of magic for me.

I reduced things year by year. A few years ao our home could seem a pop up Xmas shop, but now it's a bit more minimal.

I started hating too many things and decorations all around.

Quest'anno ho voluto che come puntale ci fosse il mio topo Knut ( di cui è in vendita il pattern digitale nel mio negozietto Etsy..link nellla colonna di sinistra del blog).

Un topo a cui sono sempre affezionata e che sembra nato per stare lì in cima a guardarsi in giro, mentre stringe al petto il suo gingerino e il candy cane.

I wanted my Knut mouse to be on top of the tree, this year.

He seems so proud to be on top and watch all around, while hugging his gingerbread man and candy cane!

Per il resto, tutto più o meno come lo scorso anno.

Sul camino mancava, quando ho fatto le foto, una renna in legno che qualcuna di voi avrà visto sul mio profilo Instagram.

The other decorations are the same as last year.

When I shooted it, a new wooden reindeer was missing on the mantelpiece.

Someone may have seen it in my Instagram profile.

My work for Blogger Collection by Blanc Mariclò

Lo scorso anno ho partecipato, in gran segreto, alla preparazione di una nuova collezione di Blanc Mariclò : la Blogger Collection.

Sono stata contattata da Mariangela, una delle due vulcaniche sorelle fondatrici di questa azienda, per creare alcuni prototipi da far realizzare e vendere nei loro shop, monomarca e non.

Questo è ciò che ne è nato, lo scorso Dicembre, e che quest'anno finalmente è visibile a tutti.

E' stata una esperienza interessante e piacevole, un onore :-)

Last year I took part in one nice project, the Blogger Collection, created by a famous italian shabby style society, Blanc Mariclò.

I was asked to create some prototypes for this new collection and now, one year later, I can show them. They can be found in their shops.

It was an amazing experience for me.

Il tema erano pattini e cuori, i colori dovevano essere tortora, bianco e rosso: sono nati così addobbi, cuscini, ghirlande, tea cosy, tovagliette..pensate e create per questa linea e ora disponibili nei negozi.

Ice-skates  and hearts were the theme: red, white and natural the colours and here are the things I made for them.

Spero incontreranno il favore del pubblico.
